Cervical polyp

Hi everyone. I've been to the doc this morning after having vague abdominal and lower back ache. It's getting worse, and I'm going to the loo a lot, weeing. She did a swab, said there was a bit of discharge, and a urine sample showed slight signs of something so I've got antibiotics. But she found a polyp so I'm being referred to the hospital. Trying to think it's nothing, but this ache is really annoying. Pretty much constant. Has anybody else had this?

  • Hi

About 2 weeks ago I had a post menapausal bleed, had an internal and smear my GP discovered a polyp and yesterday I had an internal scan now all I need to do is wait for the results.

my G.P did suggest that if my problem was simply polyp's that the problem could be dealt with in a simple operation. Which you seem to have had, sorry to here about your mammogram results

    my thoughts are with you

    God bless

  • Hi, thanks for replying. Am still waiting in my results from my gynae biopsy, and still having spotting and bleeding from it. Will need to see if I still need my routine smear after that. Am sure he said I would, as if I haven't had enough. I get my breast op on Tuesday, so that's my journey beginning.

I wish you well, us women certainly don't have it easy do we??

  • In 2015 I had stage three triple negative breast cancer. In 2018 given the all clear.

In december 2019 had a cervical polyp removed after post menstual bleeding.Had general anesthetic.. All clear and non cancerous. However I had had really painful back ache since it was removed. COuld this be connected or should I be worried?

  • Hiya. I don't  know if it would be connected. Could you call the hospital or doctor that did the removal and ask them? Might be coincidence but there's no harm in asking is there for your peace of mind.

I got my gynae biopsy results back and they were clear. Thankfully something has gone right.

  • many thanks westcoast wife, for your reply, think I might have a chat with my GP....

hoping that your operation went ok and you are now on the road to recovery. stay brave and positive for these will certainly help you through the next few months. :)

  • Good luck, and I hope it's just coincidence for you. Try not to worry (famous last words lol). Take care xx

  • I'm so glad your results were clear west coast wife! I'm in on Friday to have my 2nd polyp removed. I had one removed sept 2018 but now iv got another and I'm just more nervous about this one I don't know why. I'm terrified it's something nasty. Xx

  • Hi Rawdoodles,

It's natural to worry, especially when we can't see what's going on because it's 'down there', I hate anything in there. I hope it's OK and it's all fine with nothing more sinister. I know what you mean though about being more worried 2nd time. I had to have a 2nd op last week and was more upset for that one, was in tears in the morning of the op. I now have to wait til Thursday and hope that they've got It all this time. Waiting is the worst part isn't it.

I'll keep fingers crossed for you, and hope they take you quickly xxxx

  • Yes us women seem to get it always if you count pmt etc,I am just pleased that they caught things early take care of yourself let us know how things are going

  • I had a recent smear test, which showed a polyp and some cysts on my cervix. I have had an urgent ultrasound arranged within a week and seeing the consultant a week after. I had some spotting and pelvic pain. Since my smear I have had a constant full aching.

  • Hi ... recently had a smear come back with dodgy cells and when I had my test at the hospital to do further checks they found a polyp ... he removed it straight away With nipper’s and I watched on a screen, he said he will send it away and Mark as urgent but said it didn’t look to bad in his opinion and they are quite common, but when leaving the room he was on the phone and I over heard him saying female 58 high risk, I questioned the nurse and she said she didn’t hear him say it but bought him back in the room to speak to me, he made light out of it and said he hasn’t said that but I did hear him say high risk, now I’m worried to death it’s something worse.... today I feel I have cramps in my lower tummy ( haven’t had periods for years but feel a bit like that ) this is 5 days after I had it removed, do most come back ok or do you think it sounds more sinister x

  • I had a smear test yesterday and the nurse found a polyp and said she wanted a female doctor to see it and would arrange an appointment.  I am on the mini pill so don't get a period but I have had spotting and a bleed which lasted nearly two weeks.  The nurse spoke to a doctor and the doctor wasn't concerned as I had no symptoms the nurse hadn't thought the spotting was a symptom I have also had discharge.  She wasn't in today so speaking up another doctor tomorrow.  I have had very bad cramps since the smear and have been bleeding I have also had back pain for almost two weeks now a dull ache I don't know if it's to do with this or not.  I'm really worried and want it taken out but due to the current situation not sure what will happen
