Pea sized lump

56 years old male and I’ve found a small pea sized lump in my groin. Never felt it before.

ive read a bit about lymph nodes. Now I don’t believe a lot of what is written on the inter web, however my mum died of lymphoma about 20 years ago so it did strike a bit of a cord. Apart from the obvious Dr visit does anyone have another possible answers. Thanks

  • Hello Tootall,

Welcome to our forum - I am sorry to hear about your mum it must have been traumatic for you to lose your mum 20 years ago. You are absolutely right not to trust anything you read on the internet. Even though it is very tempting to look things up online (we all do it!), it rarely ever reassures us and only throws the worst possible case scenarios! So the best thing to do is as you suggested it yourself to go and see your doctor who I am sure will be able to tell you more about what this small pea sized lump might be.

I hope you can get an appointment soon and that it goes all so that you find the reassurance you need.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Tootall,

    Welcome to our forum,

I am sorry to hear about the lump that you have found in your groin, but you are doing theight thing in consulting your GP in the first instance. If your GP suspects anything untoward he will refer you for further tests.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 10 years and, like you, I also lost my mum to breast cancer. Try to stay away from the internet until you know exactly what you are dealing with. You are quite right not to believe a lot of what is said. Much of the information is poorly researched, out of date and, aimed at the spectacular. This can only worry you further. If you have to do some research, please stick to well respected sites.

Do please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
