This isn't so much about cancer, but more about the after effects of having cancerous cells removed from the upper ear.
3 days ago, my husband had the above procedure done. He had a skin graft using skin from his neck sewn onto the wound. Ever since this was done, he has been in real pain from his ear. The surgeon talked to him about the probability of infection. The following day the ear was bruised and at the weekend the bruising faded. However, today, the 3rd day, a redness has moved almost all the way down his ear and it's just as painful as when he first had the procedure done. (After the local anaesthic wore off!).
We would like to know if this redness is a sign of infection. We are away from home at the moment, but if it is an infection, we have been advised to go to the nearest plastic surgery dept of the hospital. Don't want to panic over it unnecessarily though.
