Health Anxiety

Hi everyone apologies if this isn’t the right place for this what I want to share is what I think is terrible health anxiety that I am suffering from. I am a 20 year old male and at age 16 I got a serious illness affecting my nervous system this kept me out of school and also the world for nearly 2 years I have since recovered from that illness and was fine up until about 5 weeks ago when I got a persistent tension type headache that would not subside I went to the doctor a couple of times who eventually sent me for an MRI. The mri came back completely normal and the headaches have lessened in  severity but I have since noticed other symptoms such as visual problems like floaters and flashes along with muscle twitching mainly affecting my neck arms and legs. And In recent times I have noticed discomfort at the tip of my tongue I’m not sure what it is but I’m terrified that I have bitten my tongue overnight and night and this might be Linked to some kind of seizure/epilepsy episode. The thought of that terrifies me but what Another thought I have is that it these symptoms could Be anxiety related and are being exacerbated by the fact that I was ill before already at a young age. I am waiting to see a neurologist but I cannot function properly with the worry that these symptoms are being caused by something Sinister like i mentioned above. I don’t know what to do or think and I’d really appreciate any kind of feedback. Thanks for reading

  • Welcome to the forum freespirit although I'm sorry for the reason you've joined us.

We have quite a few members that have experienced or live with health anxiety so they will understand what you're going through and will hopefully be along soon to offer their support and advice.

I know you're waiting to see a neurologist but if you're worried about these new symptoms that you've noticed then you could get back in touch with your doctor to discuss this and the connections you think this may have with your anxiety.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this website, but you may be find some useful information and guidance on Anxiety UK.
