Anaplastic thyroid cancer

Hi, my mom has this week been diagnosed with anaplastic thyroid cancer and I was wondering if anyone had experienced this? It’s a very aggressive cancer and we have been told there is no treatment for it. Has anyone had radiotherapy/chemotherapy for this cancer? Or is anyone aware of any trials or treatments which could extend her survival time? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

  • Hello Gemma241,

I am so sorry to hear about your mum 's diagnosis it must have come as a shock to you and her family especially if you were told that there is no treatment for it. Perhaps you could give our nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040? Their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they will be happy to talk to you in more detail about this type of thyroid cancer.

I hope that you will hear from some of our other members who have had a similar diagnosis and that they will come and share their experience with you. If you type the keywords "anaplastic thyroid cancer" in our forum search which is located on the blue banner at the top, you will be able to find other past relevant threads on the subject and feel free to respond to any that are of interest to you.

Very best wishes to you and your mum,
