Severe pre cancerous cells

I am a 45 yr old woman and have a long standing auto immune condition called Oral Lichen Planus. In Feb I developed a thickened white patch inside my cheek. My consultant gave me a steroid injection into it. It didnt go away do he made an appointment for me to have it removed. By the time I went for removal 5 weeks later it was too big so he did a biopsy. The results came back last week and there are pre cancer cells graded severe involved, so I have to have the rest of it removed under a general with some urgency so it will be done within next 3 weeks.

My main question is, is this what is making me feel ill and tired all the time? The lesion appeared the week my iron tablets were stopped because my results were (just) in range so I have blamed that and have bought some ferrous fumerate to take. I'm healthy and active usually but really do feel like my energy has gone walkabouts without me. I'm inclined towards thinking its iron but just wondered what people's thoughts are.

  • Hi Fruitloop74,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about what you're going through, but glad to hear you have an appointment to get it sorted and that you don't have too long to wait.

While I don't have any particular advice about what may be causing the faitgue or what may help it, I can only suggest discussing it with your doctor. Alternatively if you'd like to speak to our nurses you can reach them on freephone 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5) which may be helpful for you.

If others have any similar experiences to share then hopefully they will be along soon.

Otherwise, I just want to wish you all the best for your upcoming appointment and also I hope that you find your energy returning soon.

    Ben
