I’m only 14 and this is my third time being badly sunburnt. I noticed a small reddish mark on my arm. At the moment it is very small and doesn’t hurt if I push it so I would like to know if this is melanoma. Thanks

Goodness me! First, of all no-one on this site can tell you whether or not you are unwell in any way at all. Second, what on earth makes you think it could be a melanoma? You are much too young to be worrying about your health in this way. Third, have you shown it to your mum or dad & what do they say?
My very strong advice would be to forget it & if in 2 weeks it's still there go & see your GP. In the meantime stopy worrying but KEEP OUT OF THE SUN!! or use factor 50 sun cream.
Hi,
Please show it to your parent and, if they think it needs checking, they should make a GP appointment. If it's not checked straight away and it doesn't disappear make sure it's checked in a few weeks - don't leave it more than a month. It's good that you realise that sunburn can cause melanoma so please learn from this and make sure that you use at least Factor 30 suncream and that you reapply it regularly. If you turn red you have already damaged your skin - the younger it's damaged the more chance you can suffer in later years so please be safe in the sun, especially in this present good weather.
