Just found out....

Good morning everyone,

I have come here to seek some support as I am completely petrified.

Ive had what the doctors thought was a benign ovarian dermoid cyst but has turned out to be a cancer.

I have been told that it’s a 1C cancer and I need to have a scan and then my plan will be put together.

I have spent my life fearing something like this happening-very anxious person-and now it’s here and I am terrified. I’m 37 and have a teenage child.

My family are upset but trying to be positive but I am freaking out and falling apart.

Please help?

Kindest,

J

  • Hi Joanne, hadn’t heard of adenomysis before so had to look it up.  Although I know too well that the thought of a hysterectomy is not in any way appealing, at least adenomysis is a benign condition so that’s a positive.  Were you prescribed medication for the pain while you wait for the gynae appointment? x

  • Hello J

i am new to this forum, but have done extensive research as my mum has endometrial cancer stage 3c1.

The first piece of advice I have is look at altertive therapies and the one I can’t shout out enough about is Mistletoe therapy. It has massive benefits. Sadly only available on NHS in Scotland otherwise it’s on private prescription. You’re at very early stages so should have lots of benefits to help with symptoms too.

  • Hello millen,

Thank you for sharing your experience. It is very important with any alternative or complementary therapy to make sure to discuss it with one's specialist first to see if it is recommended in your particular case. We don't have any specific information about this particular therapy on our website, but we do have some more general information about alternative and complementary treatments which I'm including a link to here

If anyone wants to talk to our team of cancer nurses here about mistletoe - and other types - of therapy, they're available on 0808 800 4040 (Mon - Fri, 9am - 5pm).

I hope this helps and best wishes,

  • I’m hoping it’s definitley adenomyosis as it’s just suggested at the moment I’ll be pushing for a more defined scan like a ct or mri.

Nope nothing at all she just said keep taking regular pain meds even though they don’t touch the pain I’m in.

Really feeling down about hyterectomy and all that comes after it :(
