Worried myself sick

Since I found out my mom has breast cancer I’ve worried myself sick thinking I have cancer too

It started with a viral infection. I am still having pains in my legs and arms. Feel like bone pain more than muscle as they aren’t tender. I get sharp headaches and sharp pains in my abdomen. I’ve had two blood tests and my doctor says I’m fine. I just can’t stop thinking whether I have leukaemia or lymphoma.

I can’t stop with the anxiety

Has anyone else experienced this when finding out a loved one is sick?

  • Hi there - I can't say I've had this experience but perhaps someone will ccome along here who has & can offer you a bit of advice/support. What I have experienced tho' is a cancer scare just recently (I'm ok tho) & I know how scary it is. The chances are your symptoms are due to anxiety - when I was having tests I felt even more unwell than before the tests & my GP said that anxiety DOES cause physical symptoms which are real. It's amazing what the brain does to the body. I do assure you it is entirely likely this is what's happening to you.

Try, if you can, to accept what your GP has said. I s/he had any real cause for concern it would be dealt with immediately. If your symptoms continue perhaps go back to the GP. Keep as busy as possible so that you don't give yourself time to dwell on what is scary for you.

I hope your mum's breast cancer is being treated & that she is ok.

Do hope this helps you. All the best.
