I’m worried as to why I’ve been recalled.  I had a routine mammogram 7 days ago after my 50th Birthday and had a phone call today saying that there are changes from a mammogram I had 5 years ago and Dr wants to see me in breast clinic this week.

i know it’s silly to worry before knowing anything but my mum was recalled after a routine mammogram and was eventually diagnosed with breast cancer - after chemo, radiotherapy and umpteen checkups she had her 5 year appointment and was told she was in remission but 3 months later she had back ache and went to Dr which led to hospital appointment to find the cancer was in her brain, bones and liver and she died 10 days later.

I was told my mums cancer was hormone related and not hereditary.  I had an emergency hysterectomy 15 years ago and have battled the last 3 years with menopause flushes etc but have always refused HRT  that was offered because of mums cancer.

I haven’t told my family as my dad is unwell and this would upset him too much and my sons are over 20 but are still in shock and upset that their dad left our family home 18 months ago to set up home with his girlfriend which was a shock to us all as nobody had a clue there was anything wrong with our marriage.  We’ve just had to sell our family home to drastically downsize and I don’t want to worry them if there is nothing to worry about
