Colposcopy question

hey!

I had my first ever smear test a few months ago and when i got my results back they said i had 'borderline changes' in my sample. It also said i have an HPV infection.

Following on, i went for my Colposcopy appointment - they had loads of trouble finding my cervix (i think they said it was really high up??) so i was in there for a while. They said they would probably see me back in about a years time, but they didn't say much else.

I just got another letter today saying 'following our recent consultation, a further appointment has been made for you' with no other info!!

this vagueness has really worried me as i have no idea why i have to go back :( do i need to worry? does anyone know what this could be?

thanks :(

  • Hi

If they had saw anything to worry about whilst performing the colposcopy they would have said there and then and would have said about taking a biopsy of the cervix and also putting a dye on to the cervix to light up any abnormal cells.

I’m not a trained medic and have had no medicine training but got diagnosed with stage 3b cervical cancer last july.

I honestly wouldn’t worry but if your still worried give the department a ring that you attended and I’m sure they will help you.

I hope I have helped ease your worry a little.

All the best and take care x
