Carer with cancer

I am severely  disabled - a wheelchair user as a result of polio plus another 9 long term health conditions and my husband is my carer. He was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer last year which was successfully treated with chemo and surgery. However in Novemer it was discovered he also had rectal cancer and then shortly afterwards it was discovered he had secondary liver cancer in the liver. Initially it was thought both could be operated on but 2weeks ago we were told the secondary liver cancer was a very aggressive type and that therefore neither cancer could be operated on and that therefore he has less than a year to live. I wonder if there is anyone out there in a similar position ie severely disabled and whose  carer has terminal cancer. Suggestions re practical and emotional support would be very helpful

  • Hi there so so sorry your going through this heartbraking time at the moment...

Cancer sucks ... but if you go on Marie Currie home page and they will have some information you may be looking for .. they are there for those with a terminal diagnosis and their families.... they can offer practical and emotional support ... give them a ring ... write down All the questions you have .. I'm sure with you being disabled too, there will be help for you both ..

Good luck ... would love to know if and what they can help you with ... Chrissie xx
