My name is Mags and I was diagnosed with bowel cancer In January 2015 At the time I was in a Leeds hospital and I'd been in for over a week and had biopsies taken from inside my bowel I was waiting the results for 4/5 days and finally told to get my family in at the same time and they were all told (and I) I had bowel cancer We were all devastated as you must be It would have better that they had told me on my own I needed to understand the diagnosis and how I'd cope What my options were i.e. surgery, chemo or radiotherapy etc Please give your Mum as much love and support as you can I didn't choose surgery and its been dificult alot of the time 4 yrs + I'm still here I have very supportive family and close friends whom I couldn't have managed without Good nightf and God bless to your Mum and you too BishyB65 xx
My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer February 13th 2018 so although I can’t begin to imagine what you’re going through, I know a little about the effects it has on those with a loved one who is suffering.
its been and still is difficult as no day can be relied upon to be the same. I think as a family we’re all still feeling the shock waves of the diangnosis. It feels like a horrid nightmare that just won’t end, but I can assure you with a fabulous support system and a good healthcare team who genuinely believe in you your mom will be just fine. Fighting for your life is difficult but a victory can be possible you just have to ensure your mother is as upbeat as possible.
its hard being strong but strength is what your mother will need the most and I’ve also found it’s important to keep some normality.
