Waiting on results from Rad’ Hysterectomy.

Hello to you all,

My wife was diagnosed with cervical cancer in March and had a radical hysterectomy at the end of April.  I enquired about a follow up consultation last week and was told that results were ready but we had to wait to meet the consultant on his return in early June. This will be six weeks following surgery. Is it normal to wait that long? Given there is an MDT,  could others not speak to my wife instead of her having to wait another few weeks? We did ask whether we could be given an indication of the results being positive or negative via phone, but they never returned to us, which seems ominous.

My wife has since had her outpatient appointment confirmed for early June. In the letter sent, they advised that if she wanted to have a family member there that would be fine. Is that standard practice or should we be worried?

Best wishes to you all.

  • Welcome to the forum Mochtas01 although I'm sorry for the reason you've joined us.

Hopefully some of our members will be along soon to share their experiences with you but you're more than welcome to have a chat with our cancer nurses about this on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m so hopefully you can give them a quick call before the weekend begins.

I know this is much easier said than done, but try not to read too much in to things if you can. June is almost here, so not long to go now until you find out the results. I'll have my fingers crossed for good news Mochtas.

    All the best,
