Partner diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer and im 17 weeks pr

Hi, my partner is 46 and been diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer....an Adenocarcinoma. He's a T4a N3 M0. He's due to start FLOT Chemo on Monday, followed by an Oesophagectomy in september and then more Chemo. I'm 17 weeks pregnant, have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Heart Failure and my 2 stepchildren who are 12 and 16 live with us after their mother kicked them out and because of this they both have issues. Due to circumstances preceding that there is a court order in place and they're not allowed contact. I'm worried sick about everything, how poorly he's going to be, will he get through the op ok, will the chemo and op work, coping with the children, the pregnancy and he worries about not surviving the op and not meeting baby. We have a fantastic network of family and friends but this does not take the anxieties and fears away. I will also be 33/34 weeks pregnant when he has the operation.

  • Hi Piglet and welcome to the Cancer Chat forum.

I'm really sorry to read what's going on. It must be very difficult and your worries and fears are completely understandable. Many of our members have found themselves in similar situations so will understand how you're feeling at the moment and hopefully some of them will pop by soon to offer their support and advice.

In the meantime keep sharing your thoughts and feelings with us if you find it helps and although it will be tough, try and make time for yourself so you're able to keep your strength up during your pregnancy and support your partner.

    Best wishes to you both,
