I know it’s so difficult, but just try and stay calm. If it’s reading a book, doing ten mins of exercise, or cooking etc. Do anything to take your mind of it. I’m awaiting a appt on Monday for a lump in breast, and I’m terrified. I’m just trying to think of it as, no matter how much I stress or worry, it won’t change the outcome. So I’m just trying my very best to be calm. Your not alone.

Waiting for results can be scary and rather tough to deal with but I want to assure you that you're not alone in this as many of our members have been through this process so will completely understand the range of thoughts and emotions you may be having at the moment and I'm sure some of them will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

I noticed you mentioned that you self harmed and I'm sorry that this situation has led to you doing this. I know it's difficult but I hope this information I've found online will help you to resist the urge of doing this and help you get back some sense of control. Do your family and friends know what's going on or how you're feeling at the moment? If you haven't done so already, maybe you could try to open up and confide in someone you trust as I have no doubt that they will want to do all that they can to help. If you don't feel like you can talk to them about this then the Samaritans are just a phone call away on 116 123. Their phone lines are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so you can talk to them anytime you feel things are getting a bit too much. Also, if you are finding the pain you're experiencing in your legs unmanageable then do think about getting in touch with the NHS on their 111 number to get some advice.

Try to take things a day at a time if you can and remember that you are not alone.
