Confused

Hi everyone. We lost our beautiful mum in March to a brain tumour. We are obviously devastated so obviously this subject is a little raw. One of my colleagues told us last year she had cancer (this lady has been know to be a bit economical with the truth) she has changed her story so many times my heads buzzing and now she tells us the doctor sent her a letter saying the chemo had worked and she’s cancer free. This woman has long flowing locks I might add. I didn’t think the doctor would send such important news by post.  Is it me just being suspicious.

  • I think I would be suspicious too...I’ve come across a few people on forums who lie about cancer for whatever reason, so it does happen. I will say that I have had chemo and didn’t lose my hair, so that’s not a reason in itself to say your colleague isn’t telling the truth.

Are you aware of your colleague having treatment? What kind of cancer does she claim to have had? She would be followed up by her consultant after the end of treatment with an appointment...she would not be sent a letter to say the treatment has worked!

I find it perplexing and sad that people would choose to lie about something which affects so many people. And when you lie, you need to have a fantastic memory to remember the lies you’ve told. Most people don’t have that so are easy to catch out.

So sorry to hear you lost your mum so recently..that’s a devastating thing to come to terms with. x
