Biopsy in throat

Hi guys,

I don't know if this is the correct place to post, i have had persistant sore throat and ear pain for a few months, doctor thought it was tonsillitis which i knew it wasn't but took 3 lots of antibiotics. Then asked for a refferal to ENT which was done under 2WW i have recently had my biopsies under general anesthetic and now just waiting for results.  I am feelkng very anxious.  Good news i had ultrasound on my lymph nodes and there wasn't any swellings, but just anxious for my biopsies to come back! I feel guilty for posting on here if its a false alarm

  • With anything sinister in this area, you would usually also experience swallowing problems. Anyone with any doubt about whether they may have cancer chats on here. All the best x

  • Its good to try and share your worries, hopefully its not cancer but something else causing this,i know how awful waiting on the results are as i myself had to wait 4 weeks on my results which showed i unfortunately did have it but was lucky it hadnt spread to my lymph nodes,i had 35 sessions of radio which is hard going but worth it if it saves our life, always come on here and chat if you have any worries,it helps to talk to others who know what you are going through,i hope your results come back soon and all clear,God bless

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, sorry to hear about your journey :-(

Its just a waiting game isn't but at least i tell myself if it is anything they are aware of it and somethings being done, thank you again and good luck with everything x

  • Hi there, I was just reading your post about your throat, I hope your ok x I am going in for a biopsy on the 24th, I have had no voice for 10 weeks and had the camera put up my nose and down my throat a couple of times my vocal chords are so swollen and they can't explain it. I have ear pain but no ear infection and sore glands on my left x does it hurt to have the biopsy I don't mind if it does, I don't have a voice now I have a whisper. I hope you don't mind me messaging you about this. Many thanks Lesley

  • Hi lelly48,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about the difficulties you're having at the moment. I just wanted to post to say that this is a fairly old thread and so the people who have posted here may not be active on the forum anymore. If that is the case, do feel free to create your own post in a new thread to hopefully receive further replies.

    All the best,

  • Hi Lelly,i had my biopsy done under general anaesthetic and my throat was a bit sore for a few days after,so plenty of ice cream and custard,it was discovered i had cancer and i underwent 7 weeks of radiation which finished 2 years ago,it wasnt a pleasant experience but you find inner strength you didnt know you have and Thank God i have remained cancer free from them,i wish you the best of luck and pray everything works out ok for you,God Bless

  • Hi Lelly

my husband has the exact same lost voice for 12 weeks. After being told he had laryngitis so many times he decided to go to a private ENT ... turned out he had a lesion in his voice box . This was removed followed by 6 weeks of low dose radiotherapy. That was two years ago in December . He is all clear now . Would you believe I was diagnosed with tongue cancer  9 months ago   I had 6 weeks of max radiotherapy it was not pleasant but I have had 3 clear scans . So if this does turn out to be something nasty it's a good cancer to treat ... awful treatment but a good outcome . All the best Ginny x
