Sorry to hear about your diagnosis and that you have a wait now until your WLE. Sadly this is due to the heavier workload that is being experienced by dermatology and plastics clinics around the country. It used to be an average of 2 weeks wait between results and WLE but that is now stretching to 3 or 4 weeks. The good news is that the melanoma has been removed and that the WLE is the 'belt & braces' part in case of any stray cells that may have travelled into the surrounding tissue. Hopefully the wait will have no detrimental effect on the outcome of your results post WLE. You may find that the 9th May appointment will be followed up quickly with the surgery date so you may not be waiting too long.
