Peripheral neuropathy

Chemotherapy paclitaxel has left me with peripheral neuropathy and virtually housebound. Pregabalin has stopped the night time pain but still have numbness in hands and feet. It is now over three months since my last chemo session and I have been put on tamoxifen. Scan imminent. Any advice on treatment gratefully received.

  • Hi wardses,

    Welcome to Cancer Chat.

Paclitaxel is known to have side effects that impact the nerves. Hopefully our members can share their advice with you but, in the meantime, I thought I'd point out some information here, which has tips for improving the numbness. There are also some complimentary treatments mentioned that may help. You should always talk to your medical team for advice and we also have a team of nurses on hand if you need to talk to someone. Their number is free to call from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. It's 0808 800 4040.

    I hope that's useful,

  • Thank you Anastasia. Has anyone tried capsaicin cream? After three months without paclitaxel I am now experiencing a little improvement in symptoms. With very best wishes to all fellow sufferers.
