Nipple discharge

Hello everyone

I have a referral to the breast clinic next Tuesday, following a very panicked visit to my gp because of having a sore nipple, when I examined my nipple it leaked with milky discharge.  I tried to see if anything would come out of my other nipple to no avail. The gp examined me and found no lumps or inflamed lymph nodes, she also took blood to check my prolactin hormones which came back normal.

When I was 14 years old I was diagnosed with B-Cell non-hodgkins lymphoma which required 9 months of hard and fast chemotherapy and I have been in remission since.

Having this in the back of my mind, I am absolutely terrified that cancer has struck again and I’m going to have to leave my 2 beautiful babies and husband behind.

I’m frightened and I’m not sure who to talk to without frightening them too.

  • Hi Allison,

I'm so awfully sorry you're going through this.

I was referred to the NHS breast clinic, they spent a very long time feeling my breasts and trying to get the discharge to come out again, however nothing came out!

They we're not concerned with me and advised me to return in 3 months time if there was no improvement.

I waited 2 months with no change and decided to go private to pay for a scan to be done as my mental state was not all that great, worrying about it all the time.

The scan came back completely clear and the doctor was very thorough in explaining why breasts can leak and hurt.

I wish to you the best of luck.

Lots of well wishes to you xx
