I have had bumps in my neck for years now, probably lymph nodes and recently one has gotten swollen. Is it unhealthy to have these, NON SWOLLEN, for a lonn time? Should i see a doctor?
It is always wise to get swollen lymph nodes checked out as soon as you can. Sometimes they just swell due to inflammation elsewhere in the body, but you are always better to rule out anything untoward. Make an appointment with your GP and put your mind to rest.
If you tell the receptionist that you need an urgent appointment because you've discovered swollen lymph nodes in your neck, she will try to find you an appointment as soon as possible. Please don't delay in arranging this, as, if there is anything untoward, the sooner it is seen to the better.
Hi I know this was nearly 2 years ago now but just wondering how you got on? I'm in a similar boat but have a telephone appointment on Tuesday. Did you have to push for any tests?
I've had some lymph nodes removed from my neck the swelling was going down but after some gentle exercise the whole side of my neck has really swollen. Anybody had this ?
I know I'm not the original poster but I clicked on this to see what the conversation was. I have a a swelled lymph note in my groin, my GP fitted me in straight away and she looked at it and said they do swell from time to time if they are fighting something in the body but she did test just to check which she did lots of bloods to see my blood count and sent me for an ultrasound and due to having symptons as well as the results from the blood and ultrasound she has referred me to hospital for urgent appointment as she believes I have lymphoma. She was a great doctor I had seen. I do think if you are concerned at the doctors to push for blood test and ultrasound just to make sure.
The one on my left measured at 22.5mm which is roughly half the size of a golf ball and the one on my right measured at 14mm which I don't really know what object to compare that too. They was my biggest two that got measured in the ultrasound. I am experiencing night sweats, itching also have lost my appetite.
