Endometrial Cancer

Hello

Just going out of my mind and cannot seem to find anyone in a similar situation to me and all the hours if research I am doing is saying 'poor prognosis'

After almost one year and 3 consultants later (I was too young for EC apparently) an amazing gynaecology oncologist listened to me and re looked at my biopsies and confirmed what I feared I had endometrial cancer. In 2017 I had surgery and was advised Stage 1 grade 1a- no need for further treatment. I was 'effectively cured'.

I have been seen every three months my last appointment only 8 weeks ago. I feel well and have my life back on track until just over a week ago when I had some mid back pain which was classic of renal stones. I was forced to go to the hospital - I avoid hospitals at all costs. On a scan to locate the 'stone's it was found that I had enlarged lymph nodes one very big. I am an advanced nurse practitioner myself and I know this is not good. I then had a ct scan with contrast and told that i would see the local gynaecological oncology team. I asked the hospital to contact my consultant but they did not.

I went to this appointment and I am now due to have a PET scan in two days time and to see my consultant in one week. Other than that treatment was mentioned and not much else. I know this enlarged node (s) are a malignancy and I am going out of my mind.

All the research says that the prognosis for recurrent endometrial cancer is poor prognosis of 12 - 15 months and I am just terrified and do not want to die. I am 41 years old and I feel so much guilt to my dear husband Mum and family for all this I am putting then through.

Had anyone survived a recurrent endometrial cancer ??

Sorry for the long post.

With love E

  • A warm welcome to Cancer Chat EJH,

It must be a worrying time for you at the moment as you are waiting to receive the PET scan results. I know it is really hard but try not to do too much online research at the moment as it will make you even more anxious. I hope you get some definite answers soon. Hopefully coming here and talking to others who are in a similar situation will help.
