Yes, we have all reacted like this - you are still in shock and your mind is still trying to take it in. Hopefully your WLE results will be clear and you will then have check ups for the next year. 1a is the best of a bad bunch when it comes to a melanoma diagnosis so you have caught it early and hopefully you will have no further problems. Hello.  I was given the same diagnosis.  I had my wider excision with a skin graft on 11 April.  I had a phone call today confirming the biopsy was clear.  It does hit you hard and no-one understands unless they have also been through it.  I'm hoping all has worked out well for you.

I’ve managed to delay my WLE (stage 1A lower leg) until September as my consultant admitted there’s very little evidence to show that extended  ‘surgical interval’ had much effect on recurrence outcomes.

Could you tell me a little about your WLE and how long it took to recover, where they took the skin graft from etc.?
