Pain in arm and breast with 3 lumps

I am 43 been having pain in arm and breast for 3 weeks doctor found 3 lumps sent me for a urgent referral got appointment this Tuesday I am so scared and been a emotional wreck I can't cope at all and been distant from my family I know it's breast cancer as these lumps feel different from my last one in my head i don't think I will be here much longer everyone I know has died from breast cancer around me .

  • Hello lovely, don’t get too ahead of yourself it may still be nothing serious. When I found a lump I was convinced it would be bad news but it wasn’t luckily. The nurses found 3 altogether and were all breast tissue but my mum and other family members have found lumps which turned out to be nothing. I think I read somewhere on here that most breast lumps aren’t cancerous so do remember that and try and hold on to that. You’re doing the right thing in getting it checked and luckily the wait isn’t too long now. I hope everything goes well for you and everyone here will be there for you whatever the outcome, in the meantime feel free to message away and take your mind off it xx

  • Thank you all i do is cry and dosed up with diazipan which isn't working I am in alot of pain in breast and shoulder as well so I thinking it's spread I really don't know how I am going to cope Tuesday everyone tells me to be positive but I am so negative x

  • I know it’s hard but do try and keep distracted (easier said than done I know) It’s so easy to be negative and think the worst, I think this is human nature so you’re not alone there, just keep chatting away to us and hopefully Tuesday will come around soon. Maybe if it’s painful it may be a cyst? I know some other benign conditions cause pain but the only way to know is going to your appointment :) xx

  • Hi Hun,

First of all I am so sorry for the struggles and pain that you are experiencing! I want to start off by saying your fear is completely valid and understandable! We often tend to think the worst and correlate all lumps to life threatening situations! As far as I have read, approximately 80% of all breast lumps tend to be benign and nothing serious (although that may not be a 100% accurate statistics - but all in all, most lumps dont turn out to be cancerous).

I think your gp has done the right thing by sending you for a referral, but dont fear - this is a standard procedure that they have to follow.

I'm hoping that by explaining my own situation, you won't feel as alone! I also have found a lump in my breast a couple of weeks ago (a week prior to that I had pain and swelling in my underarm) . Like yours, its quite painful, and I also have swelling in the area too! I have occasional pain and numbness down my arm on the same side! I have been really struggling emotionally and mentally - as you cant help but think of the worst case scenario. My gp also referred me to the breast clinic and I have my appointment tomorrow (my appt came within a week). I'm honestly absolutely petrified as well, but fingers crossed all will go well for both of us!

Just know that you're not alone, and there are plenty of incredible people on this forum! If you ever want to talk feel free to drop me a message. xx

  • Hi thinking of you today hope everything goes ok for you let  me know how it goes x

  • Thank you so much for your kind words - I definitely will do! xx

  • Hey. How did all of this turn out??
