Why no biopsy?

Hi there, this is my first ever time on here and I wonder if any one else has had the same experience as me.

Eight weeks ago I had a cystoscopy.  I have Multiple Sclerosis and a suprapubic catheter.  I have been having increasingly nasty UTI infections which is why I assume a cystoscopy was requested although it was never discussed with me.  During the examination and area of raised and inflamed tissue was found closely followed by a large lump. It was a registrar that did my procedure and as the on duty consultants were in surgery she sent a picture through to them whilst getting things ready to do a biopsy. However the consultant said not to do a biopsy but to leave it six weeks in the hope that the tissue and lump would disappear.  The registrar thought it unusual but I was assured that I would be contacted with an appointment for six weeks time  when either things would have disappeared or biopsies would be done.

That was 8 1/2 weeks ago and after speaking to the department today I was told there are no appointments available in the near future and I just have to wait.

Obviously I am rather concerned about this.  Does anybody else have any experience of this? I am trying not to be concerned  but I cannot get rid of the niggle in the back of my mind.

Thank you.

  • Hi there ..

I'd deff go back and see your G P ... tell them they said 6 weeks and now your nerves are in pieces with worry ... lay it on thick ... as it's your health .. and do whatever you need to do ...years ago, when I was given the run round, l got tested privately ... it cost a fare bit ... but I got a detailed report and then l had the info to take to G P ... and I got things moving ... even if it's clear, it puts your mind at rest ...

    Fingers crossed it's a good result ... Chrissie x
