Suspected uterine polyp

Hi all,

I am new here and not had a cancer diagnosis however, I am really worried as I have been referred urgently for a hysterocopy next week for a 2 cm growth in my uterus which was found after a scan. The consultant marked it as USC which I know means urgent suspected cancer as my husband is a consultant surgeon. He’s told me that’s just a fast way to find out but I am nervous he’s playing it down !!   I have been having a bit of irregular bleeding and pelvic pain for a few months . I am so worried as the word cancer fills me with fear after seeing my dad die from it two years ago .

  • Hello darling,

I am kinda in the same boat, as in I am awaiting to hear back.. I had an emergency CA125 blood test straight after having my smear test and then another check from the Dr on Thursday, also been sent for an emergency scan. Have been told to go back to the drs on Wednesday to talk about the results, so I get the being scared part.. it's the just not knowing what could be.

I really hope it all turns out to be nothing sinister for you.

    Hugs xx

  • Hi there, I think I’m in this boat too. I’ve been bleeding since November and was told last Monday I have 2 small growths in my womb. Although the radiologist said she suspected fibroids my GP is not happy as my bleeding has been going on for so long and I have pelvic pain for 2 months. I am 50 but not menopausal yet.

Although im worried I’m trying to stay positive. I will be having another scan in 5 weeks to see if there is any change.

I hope all goes well for you x

  • Hi Everyone

I am at the other end of this. In April 2018 I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer after a hysteroscooy and biopsy. Just to say I’ve finished treatment and having regular check ups now. I know how much I worried before my diagnosis, waiting for appointments  and results. It’s only natural and to say don’t do it is like asking someone not to breath. However time does pass and trying to keep busy and doing things you enjoy can help. If not come here and someone will always listen and support. People on here kept me sane. If any of you ladies would like to ask me more, please feel free to post  here or send me a friend request.

it is true that if cancer is diagnosed early prognosis is good. There is a good rate of success for treatment for womb cancer if caught early. Hoping everyone’s news is good and sending a virtual squeeze from my hand to yours.

  • It’s so worrying isn’t it ? I have decided to have the procedure under local as I don’t want to wait another month for a general ! I am just so worried how it will change our lives if it is cancer , we have five kids and even getting them picked up from school next Monday is hassle as my mother is 80 and can’t helo . I sincerely hope your news is good news, suppose we should be glad the Drs are so thorough

  • Dear Sundial, I am so happy to hear you are at the other end of this journey and I’m glad you are on the mend.  Thank you for your kind offer to chat to us.  I hope I am not just over reacting but feel ignored by the gynaecologist. I am thank my GP is supportive and I am grateful for this group and people like you

  • Dear Murry71, good luck with your procedure. Keep focused on a positive outcome.

Yes it is very worrying indeed.  The waiting seems so long. X

  • Hi Murray71

Was just go ogling the same thing and your post came up, can I ask how everything went xxxx

  • Hiya, I know this is an older post, but I'm in similar situation, the radiologist found something and said probably polyp, the gyny consultant agreed, I had hysteroscopy and he said theres thickening but it's not a polyp  , he took biopsy and said I'd get results posted directly to me, I'm just waiting anxiously, I had hysteroscopy a week ago

  • I am 59 and I had a premature menopause in my mid 30s. I went on HRT in my early 40s. Never had any issues post menopausal or with HRT

I had a smear last year that showed abnormal cells but not pap cells. So advised to do nothing as it would probably resolve itself, if asymptomatic and I had no problems. Later on the year i started spotting and then I went onto have a full blown period like bleed and pain. So I  went to my doctor who made a 2 week referral. I had a hysteroscopy under GA 2weeks ago and only just got my results today verbally after ringing my gp. Fab news 'a benign normal polyp'. Benign is all I needed to hear.  Whatever a normal polyp is?  I've never had one before? I was told they would remove any polyps under GA but that never happened. I have now restarted bleeding but its early days postop hopefully?

Don't let the wait consume you, hang in there a bit longer for your results. Dont let it go beyond the 2weeks. I couldn't  wait any longer as I know the wait seems forever. Thinking of you andveushing you the best news
