2nd C.T. Scan after Lobectomy. Now I'm worried.

Hi all. I'm so sorry that I haven't posted here for 3 or so weeks. I am so grateful to the 2 people who replied to me before but when I got the results of my most recent scan, I shut off from everybody. I was expecting my Consultant to say that my last scan a month ago was clear and that when they did the Lobectomy on my right upper lobe that the cancer had gone. However, he has sen an area of " opacity "at the bottom of the right lung so I will need another scan in a couple of months as he needs to see whether there is a change or whether it has cleared. Hopefully it will be clear but I am scared that the cancer is back because I am getting a couple of symptoms which I had before. I think the waiting is awful though I understand it's necessary.

People on the forum are amazing and I have friend's who are still battling cancer after a few year's of Chemo and Radiation treatment and they are so brave and when we get together we laugh...a lot, which helps! Does anybody with Adenocarcinoma of the lung have sore upper arms which are so painful that certain movement's make you yelp? I had ths when I was first diagnosed with cancer last June and the pain went after the Lobectomy but came back about a month ago. I had the Lobectomy in September,  2018 but still get very tired and I get coughing bouts which last for an hour or more and also get nerve pain where the drain was. When the weather is cold that seems to get worse. Anybody else get any problems after Lobectomy.  I thought I would be further along bu am finding my voice is shaky, which I hate.

I have always been very independent and push myself to do thing's but find I'm still quite limited. Grrrr! Take care everybody. Thank you for ploughing through this! All the best,  Danni88

  • Hello Danni88,

The wait for answers is often described here as the hardest thing, and in your case it must be even more frightening as you are waiting to find out whether the cancer is back. I sincerely keep everything crossed for you and I hope you won't have to wait too long now to get some clarity on all this.

We have some information on lung cancer here which might be of interest to you and you can also read more on the lobectomy here.

You have indeed joined a lovely supportive community and I think it would be great if you could chat to some of our other members who have been diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma and had a lobectomy themselves. To make life easier for you, I've done a little detective search of the forum looking for other threads and other members that might be of interest to you. Only a few days ago, [@Ursula_H]‍  mentioned she has been diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma and had her lower lung lobe removed at the end of January. You can read her story here and respond if you wish. [@Cimbo]‍ would be another person worth connecting with who also finds herself in a similar boat as you can see here. Hopefully they will also come and share their experience with you on your thread.

Our nurses are  also always available if you need to chat on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

Keep us updated if you can Danni88 on how things develop for you. We are all here for you anytime you need to chat.

    Best wishes,
