Newbie...lump in boobie!

Hi

Just wanted to say hello..and yes I found a dreaded lump in my boob!;)Went doctor yesterday that confirmed it and has referred me..to where? Who knows as by then I had shut off...even though I felt it myself I was kinda hoping it was my imagination.

Told my partner..well I got him to have a feel and he agreed something not right...who has only been in my life for 3 years this July...he is my soul mate.. the one and after a marriage of 20 years to a nasty person..he majes me feel safe/happy and now there's a bloody lump...yes I know we don't know what it is!but since I have woken today that area feels sore..not that it hurts but there is certainly a dull ache...am I imaginating it?Now I think back to..I have had pains in my neck, shoulder and thought it was sleeping funny or sometimes when I get a cold they ache first!I am trying to be positive but have to admit negative thoughts keep creeping in ...what do I tell my 18 & 22 year old boys?..what happens if it's the worst case scenario? So I am hoping that letter comes soon & appointment sooner!

Thanks for listening!

Love and hugs to you all!

    Hi Arsenal,

    Welcome to the forum.

I am so sorry to hear about your discovery of a lump. You have probably been referred to a breast clinic and will likely get your appointment within 2 weeks. When you get to the clinic you will probably have a discussion with your consultant, a physical examination, a mammogram and/or an ultrasound and, a biopsy. It then takes 1-2 weeks to get the results of these tests back and, this can be a nerve wracking time as you wait for them. Many of us tend to think the worst at this stage. Fortunately, this selom turns out to be the case.

I am so glad to hear that you are in a better relationship than you were. You will appreciate your partner's support in the months to come. Can he attend your appointments with you? It makes a big difference to have someone accompany you. This is particularly important when you are going to get any test results. It can also be helpful to draw up a list of questions for your consultant before each appointment. These will change from one visit to the next.

Don't exclude your partner from any aspect of your journey. You will find that you are both stronger together. Many women don't tell their children, other family members and friends until they have a definite diagnosis. Of every 10 people referred to the breast clinic, only 1 will have cancer, so I am hoping that you will be one of the 'lucky 9'.

Do please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Arsena,

I'm glad to hear that your appointment has come through. It has come through in the 2 week time frame that I mentioned in my last post. This is not unusually quick, this is the normal time frame, so please don't worry about getting it so quickly.

I shall be keeping my fingers crossed for you on 25th.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
