Inflamed throat since always

Hello,

I don’t know where else to go with it.  Since  I was a child I use to have tonsillitis every single month. I’ve been suffering from it throughout my life. I use to smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol like a lot of  young people.

The back wall of my throat seems always be very red, bloody almost. It doesn’t hurt - I’ve got problems with my nose since forever. It’s blocked with no mucus. I had an endoscopy last time I saw ENT in 2017. I also had CT of sinuses which came out clear.

I tend to snore and wake up with very dry throat ( I think I breathe through my mouth quite often)

The back wall wall of my throat is often very dry, and it’s very hard when I touch it with my finger.

I also have plenty of enlarged lymph nodes and had numerous US and it always turns out they’re reactive and not pathological.

Is is this a throat cancer?

I’m so scared.

I’m 27.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I am sorry to learn that you are worried about your health. Many people contact us because they are concerned that symptoms they have might be caused by cancer. We are unable to diagnose anyone and the best advice we can give is to encourage people to go back and see their doctor when they are having persistent symptoms.

It may be helpful to say that any cancer affecting the throat is unlikely at your young age. Most people who develop these types of cancer are over sixty.

It sounds as if the doctors have taken your symptoms seriously as you have been referred for a number of tests and investigation which were all clear. But clearly, you are still worried and all I can really suggest is to back and talk through your concerns with your GP.

We are currently trying to get an impression of how satisfied Cancer Chat members are with the answers the nurses are posting to their questions.  We would be very grateful if you would take a few minutes to fill in the feedback survey here.

I hope you know more about your situation soon.Give us a ring if you want to talk things through. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
