Waiting biopsy results from breast lump

Hi all, just writting on here as it feels like a safe space to talk openly.

I am 27 years old and had an ultrasound on a lump in my breast I discovered 2 weeks ago. I expected to be in and out of there in no time but I ended up having 3 biopsies taken of the lump and some cell samples taken from my lymph glands.

I have 2 weeks to wait for the results and although I am sure all will probably be fine, the wait seems like forever. How have people destracted themselves during the wait?

Thanks :)

  • Keep busy and stay positive, I’ve been there the result for me was not good, however I rolled up my sleeves accepted the operation I was at stage 4 and spread to Lymph nodes... then had the chemo radiation Herceptin and now on tamoxifen... 6 years ok now.. So keep busy keep positive and fingers crossed you won’t have to go through that but if you do... make sure you have a good friend you can talk to, go out have fun and enjoy life to the fullest no matter what, as my oncologist said all the time you’re worrying about the disease you’re losing time which can be spent living ...and your life could be stopped abruptly by something else urm like a number 9 bus!  Good luck you hear good news and if you don’t, just  accept  all the help you can, stay strong xxx

  • Hi- I have just been in the same boat - I got my results Back on Thursday and my breast cancer was confirmed unfortunately - and I’m still awaiting more tests to check for spreading etc so I know how you feel - all I can say is keep busy and try and have people around you - I can’t give  much advise on how to keep your mind off it as it’s always in the back of my mind too but I would like to say try not to google a lot about breast cancer etc as that is the most scary part anf that’s what I struggled with most in my wait -  I really hope your results come back clear - try and stay positive ️

  • Thank you so much for your reply. It sounds like you have been on one hell of a journey, I really admire your strength and positivity!

What your oncologist said really hit home with me "all the time you’re worrying about the disease you’re losing time which can be spent living", I will remind myself on this when my mind starts wondering and thinking about the 'what if's'.

    Thank you xxx

  • Hi, I am so sorry to hear about your results! Sending you lots of strength and positivity and all the best for your next results!

I got into a bad place from googling last week but I have told myself to try and stop that now as it does not help at all, and does not make the time go quicker. Instead, I am trying to meet up with friends and keep busy at work.

Thank you very much for your reply! xxx

  • Meeting your friend and keeping busy is the best thing you can do - I really do hope all is ok for you and thank you for your reply
