Could it be?

So I've stumbled across this website and thought I would post how I'm feeling in the hope that whoever might read this can tell me their thoughts.

For a while now I've been experiencing period like cramps in my pelvic area along with lower back pain which tends to come and go.

I've always been someone who is constantly up and down to the toilet for a wee but I've noticed recently I'm needing to go more frequently, one day a few weeks ago I actually counted from when I woke up I had been 30 times. Almost minutes after going to the toilet I can feel my bladder filling up again.

The last week or so I have had occasions where I have struggled to go to the toilet and feeling a little constipated then when I do go it seems to come out in small lumps not how it should be (apologies if that's TMI).

Before now Ovarian cancer never would have crossed my mind however I saw a post on Facebook from a lady who had talked about her experience and how she had been told it was IBS but turned out to be ovarian cancer and with me having similar symptoms I have just worried myself to exhaustion.

Especially as I found out back at the very end of 2017 that I had a cyst on my ovaries however they assured me it was completely normal and I had nothing to worry about.

I have booked an appointment with the doctors however I never really feel like they listen, I sometimes feel embarrassed to even bring the topic up like I'm being ridiculous.

So I'm guessing I just wanted your thoughts, from the people who have or are going through this.

I would appreciate anyones opinions.

Thanks

    Hi Unwritten,

    Welcome to the forum.

First of all let me assure you that you are not being ridiculous, or wasting anyone’s time with your concerns. I am glad to hear that you have made an appointment with your GP.

It is up to you to impress on your GP just how worried you are about this and to insist that the necessary tests are done to put your mind at rest. If you are not happy with how you are listened to, or treated, you are perfectly within your rights to ask for a second opinion.

When are you due to see your GP? Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello Jolamine,

I have been to see a nurse, it wasnt the best visit it felt rushed but she suggested I do a water sample and turns out I have a kidney infection.

She had a look over my records and said everything looks great and everything they could have done to rule out cancer they have already done.

I understand this however it was May 2017 when I had a scan and they found my cyst and I had blood tests where they apparently tested for ovarian cancer (which I was never told).

This did put my mind at rest but I still cant help feel that a lot could have changed since then and my cyst could have got worse.

I'm taking antibiotics for a week and hopefully this will clear up my symptoms.

I do suffer with health anxiety and my mind runs wild at the slightest symptoms, there is always that thought "what if I've been misdiagnosed and it's too late".

It's difficult when the symptoms I've been having could relate to so many medical reasons however cancer is always the most feared.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, it helps sometimes to discuss with people who dont judge.

    Hi Unwritten,

I am glad to hear that you have seen a nurse, although I'm sorry that you feel you didn't have the best appointment.

Going to the toilet so often would certainly indicate a kidney infection and it's good that you have already started on antibiotics.

I don't know wheter or not this will help to put your mind at rest, but I was diagnosed with a cyst on my ovaries 9 years ago, when I got my original breast cancer diagnosis. I was told the same as you and have never had any bother with it in all this time.

Do please keep in touch and let us know how you feel when you finish your course of antibotics.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you Jolamine.

I'm already feeling better so trying to stay positive that by the end of the week my worries will be over.

I will certainly keep you posted.

Thank you again for listening. X
