I’m worried if it’s a brain tumour or just health anxiety.

Ok, basically I’m a 17 year old male. I was getting heart palpatations and chest pains so we went to a&e. They did tests and said I was all fine and it was proabably anxiety/stress. I do get stressed socially, but hadn’t had a huge amount of stress recently to cause this, but they say it could be a build up.

Since then they’ve gone away but now I’m nauseas, tired and have a lot of tension in the back of my head. I then felt my head and feel a lump on the part of my head where the tension is. Today my left eye has been hurting as well, and the headaches have been more icepick.

I’m extremely worried that it’s a tumour and not just stress, I became depressed in 2015 alongside tinnitus and have bottled it up. I’ve been getting worse memory and have had behaivoural changes in that time.

I feel like this all suggests a tumour. I have been using dr Google so that’s why I’m so worried. I’m going to the GP tomorrow but I’m afraid they won’t take it seriously and will treat it as just anxiety.

Should I be worried.

Thanks for reading.

Didn’t know what category to put it in.

  • hi StrayingDog

i am a 17 year old female and this sounds like I have written it myself, I have health anxiety and what you have said is exactly how I feel, when I think about googling symptoms I try to distract myself instead and put off googling, googling symptoms is a very bad idea because 1) they are not always reliable 2) they always come up with the worse possible scenario 3) your mind is very powerful and can convince yourself that you may really have there symptoms and your body goes into “super scanner mode” where you pay very close attention to your physical sensations which can amplify the sensation.

  • Hi to all I have been going doctors for years with bad aniexty and migranes and feeling tired all the time .docs keep robbing me off saying it's fine. But I have had a strok and heart atack .because I know my own body ime on antidepresents anti seizure drugs and steroids and pain killers .they are not telling me the truth so I just take one day at a time .I also have bad seizures.so I just look after myself and dont even bother going anymore oh and one more thing I've got swollen glands and they say it's nothing

  • Hey Byron,

how are you doing now? I have been having headaches ranging from a 4 to an 8 (out of 10) for about a month. After surfing the internet I started to get worried if I might have brain tumour. My headache is not on one place it is all over different places of my head. I know how you feel as I am 14 too . I had a lot of health anxiety even down there . I still don't know why I get these headaches. I don't have any problems with my vision except my eyes hurt a bit sometimes while having a headache. Try not to search up many things as I have learnt today because Google tell us the wrong thimgs. Stay safe in this time of Covid. [@maxcookie60]‍ made a really good point. Try to stay hyderated keep up with the symptoms but don't worry too much; remember you are not alone, even I need to stop googling symptoms.

Keep healthy and fit bye for now :)

  • hi bryon! im almost a year late now but i thought it would be nice to comentanyway. im also 14 adn constantly scared i have cancer; brain tumors, leukemia, lung cancer, etc... its so cscary! btu i like to think that if you've been told by a doctor that your worries were just worries before, that im sure you'll hear it again. as scary as it is though! sometimes anxiety can actualyl cause symptoms that mimick cancers, especially iff it's something that worries you. hope everyone reading is doing okay :)

  • the amount of us 14 year olds in the replies scared we have cancer lol.... reassurring to know so many people i relate to experience the same anxiety!!!

  • Hi did you ever get a diagnosis for this I have the same symptoms as you I'm 19 yr old and really worried thanks

  • Hi, i know I'm two years late. But just to let you know I have a non cancerous brain tumour and my symptoms are similar to use doctors made me belive it's anxiety for years. Please be admant with the doctors more expressive and stubborn as they don't listen you know your body more than doctors! I had a brain scan MRI after years of asking! Please request an MRI and explain this problem has been happening for years put emphasis exaggerate as they don't care unless you act like your dying !

  • Did you get seizures I have had excruciating headaches, nausea, eye spasms, dizziness, lack of balance, fainting numbness/pins and needles in legs and feet but they have said to me because of my age (18) it is unlikely to be anything serious and I was told because I haven't had any seizures it's not a brain tumor.
