Recall

Hi to every one , I went for a routine mamagramme test just over 2 weeks ago , I was joking at the time saying God can't you tell that your getting old when they call you for a routine check just before I'm 50 . Then last Friday I got home from work to find a letter for a recall , which is tomorrow morning . I can tell you as I'm sure you will understand I wasn't laughing and joking anymore , I was shocked really wasn't expecting to receive anything other than being told everthing was ok . I went from shocked to panic in about 10 seconds . All I thought about all week is what if and what am I going to do and nearly in tears . Then I went on Google yesterday and really frightened myself . Untill I had the good sense to look at recall and found this sight.  All I can say is to every one who posts is thank you so much , you have all helped me to realise it may not be doom and gloom and even if it is , it doesn't mean it's the end of my world . I'm still dreading tomorrow but I'm now a bit more positive thank you so much

    Hi Blu,

Welcome to the forum. Some years ago I was recalled after a routine mammogram. Like you, I was terrified and consulted 'Dr Google'. My advice would be to stay away from this, as it tends to highlight the worst case scenarios and, can be terrifying.  You will also find that much of the information is either out of date or poorly researched.

Instead of having this done in the van, I was brought to a central clinic and just had another mammogram. I wasn't told anything at the time, but received a letter about a week later to tell me that  I was all clear - what a relief that was!

I hope that you have the same experience tomorrow and that all turns out well.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you and yes people need to stay away from Google it's not a very good place to go looking for things such as this . I'm just getting ready to go now for my appointment , dreading it still but feeling much more positive after having the good sense to look for a forum like this . It's much more informative and very helpful . I will defo let you know hopefully today how I get on . Once again thank you to every 1 who posts on this forum you are all so helpful

  • I had great news yesterday I was given the all clear . They said on the first mamagramme there was a few little lumps showing on my left breast . They did several more mamagrammes and a ultra sound and they said it was all clear this time . I can't tell you how relieved I was , I felt like celebrating . I had never been so scared before , I hope all goes well for every 1 and once again thank you to every 1 who posts on this forum . It certainly was a great help to me

    Hi Blu,

This is absolutely fantastic news. I am so glad that you were given the all clear. I remember how relieved I was when I got the all clear and I  hope that you did celebrate.

Sadly, since then I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 9 years and, am going into hospital on Monday for the removal of a melanoma on my face. I hope that you will continue to check your breasts regularly to ensure that this doesn't happen to you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Good luck on Monday, Jolamine.

I am thinking of you and it will be a relief to get it over with. Although you then have another wait I suppose for results.

    Hi Harvell,

Many thanks for your good wishes. Yes, I'll be glad to get it over and done with, although I understand that it'll be a few weeks before I get any results back.

I shall let you know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
