• My dad was diagnosed with bile duct cancer- he was diagnosed at a stage where it had already spread to his stomach. His prognosis wasn’t positive and he passed away just under two weeks ago. It’s been a difficult time for our family, the only advice I can give you, is to just be there for your mum (which I’m sure you are). The following charity page was a great source of knowledge and helped me understand what was happening to my him (http://ammf.org.uk/). I miss his everyday and wish this was all a terrible dream. My dad did have the plastic stent fitted this was unsuccessful, he was due to be fitted a metal stent but got an infection which weakened him so much that he was unable to have any further interventions. Try and talk to others about what your going through and remain as positive as you can.

  • Hello laulaw; I am sorry you are having such a rough time.  I am pleased you have been contacted by someone who understands your situation and has pointed you in the right direction for help.  Also, the MacMillan office you mentioned  should be happy to help  you with anything related to the situation in which you find yourself so do talk to them.   If you click on the "Search Forum" above your post - on the blue banner - you can search for other posts about cholangiocarcinoma (I have checked and there is another recent poster) if you wish to do so.  Best wishes.  Annie
