Hi,

I’m new here and I’m so scared. For the past few months I have had a severe itching, painful breast so I went to the doctors 4 weeks ago and she said she could feel thickening on the left hand side of my right breast and asked if there was any family history. I was adopted but my birth nana had breast cancer twice and the second time she wasn’t so lucky as there was no lump and it was too late as the cancer had breast and passed away a couple of years ago. My birth mum also had breast cancer at my age 35 she had the treatment and she was lucky. So the doctor wanted some advice from the hospital and when I went back today she said that I wasn’t eligible for a mammogram until after my 40 which is ridiculous. She said she was going to refer me for genetic tests and said she would examine me. During the examination, I was in so much pain, tears started rolling down my face. She said that the thickening had spread to the right side of my breast now and it was larger than the other so she was doing an emergency referral. That was at 9 this morning, 4pm I got a call from the hospital and my appointment is in 2weeks. 

Should i be this worried. I’m being positive but the amount of time this has been going on for and how quickly I’m being seen now, I’m so scared
