Scared I have pagets disease

I was at my doctor recently as I have a small red patch of skin near my nipple:| my doctor thought it was a fungal infection. But it's now slightly bigger and is scabby I've used the cream she prescribed me 3 times a day but it's not making any difference I was told to use the cream for 2 weeks im now going into my 3rd week and I've noticed that I'm getting a stinging sensation in the area were it's scabby

I'm going to return to my doctor is she likely to refer me to the breast clinic and if so can anyone advise me what to expect

Kind regards Natalie

    Hi Natsmokey,

I am so sorry to hear about your breast problems. If your GP refers you to the breast clinic, you will usually be seen within 2 weeks. At your first appointment you will be physically examined by your consultant, who will ask you some questions about your symptoms.

You may then be sent for a mammogram and/or an ultrasound and possibly a biopsy. These tests are the normal ones done to decide whether or not cancer is present. You are unlikely to be given any diagnosis until your results come back. It usually takes about another week to get these returned.

It is always a good idea to bring someone with you to your appointments, especially when you are expecting to get results. It is also helpful to write down a list of questions before each visit, as it is all too easy to forget important questions when you are all up tght.

I hope that you get good news, but don't forget to keep us updated. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
