Trying to cope

HI, im new to this site and trying to come to terms that my wife has terminal lung cancer that spread to the brain (secondary) with seventeen tumours detected, the main tumour was removed with open brain surgery at St georges in November 2018 the other tumours were then treated with cyber knife at Royal Marsden, after all this top treatment we where expecting that they would then treat and target the primary cancer in the lung, but we have been told that because of the number of brain tumours they can not treat the lung with surgery or chemo and have offerered Targeted therapy which will give her approx another six months of her life, this is hard to cope with after all the the work on her brain, i can not bear knowing that she has a very short life span, so bascilly im looking for anyone that has gone through what im going through and could give me advice/ inlightment on Targeted therapy and coping and trying to carry on with your normal life, im at a all time low after being so positive with my wifes cancer, all the time they were treating my wife (Melanie) everything seemed moving forward, but now it has seemed its just stopped. We have an appointment with a surgeon next Tuesday 12th Feb for him to explain why he cant use surgery before we accept Targeted Therapy.

  • Hello alan57; welcome to the forum.  I am so sorry about your wife's lung cancer and the issues around treating it.  I cannot say I know anything about targeted drugs but am attaching a link from this website which gives information about them.  Do come back if you want to ask questions and I hope there will be someone who knows more than I do to answer them.   People from all walks of life and with different experiences post here on the forum.  Best wishes to your wife and all your family.  Annie
