Hello lovely people!

Hi everyone

I've just joined this site and looking for some advice and inspiration.

Tomorrow I am going to St James's to discuss the results and treatment of my lung cancer diagnosis.

The nerves are kicking in already, all I know so far is that I'm having another lung capacity test, along with bloods and to sign consent forms.... sounds like I'm being prepared for an operation

Any thoughts and comments would be gratefully welcoming

Thanks in advance folks!

  • Hello Marie56 and welcome.  I have not been in your position but will gladly share the wisdom I have read here and what I have learned from friends who have been in your situation.  You might want to take someone with you as you yourself will probably be stressed and perhaps not on top of what is happening.  Before you go write down any questions you want to have answered so that you don't miss anything - if you take along a friend/relative they could write down the information that you are being given.  Nothing is too small or silly to ask if you want to know the answer.  And if you don't understand anything you are told then say so!    Having said all that the people who you are talking with are doing their best to help you - hopefully you will feel that is the case - and will not mind going out of their way to make things clear to you.    I hope you will come out of the meeting with confidence in what is going to be happening although naturally it is still very worrying for you.  Of course you are welcome to come back here if you want to discuss anything; many here have been in your shoes.  Best wishes.  Annie

  • Thank you for your kind and encouraging words

My daughter is coming along with me and she'll make notes,I've done my list of questions ao I think I'm sorted.

It's the fear of the unknown that worries me but I know i am lucky enough to have it found earlier rather than later and with the support of all my wonderful family and friends I will continue to be my cheeky positive and dizzy self! I know am am one of the more fortunate humans xx
