Post menopausal bleeding

Hi

A few days ago I had a small amount of bleeding. It's about 18 months since my last period. I went to the Dr as soon as I could. Had swab and smear and was told would be fast tracked, then later was called back in for bloods so they would have everything at hospital.

Well, next day I had a call to say I had chlamydia! Was overjoyed (yes, really) because I thought that would be it. But the hospital have said they still want to do uterus scan and colposcooy. I am just terrified again now in case they find something. Can anyone offer any words of comfort?

  • Hello Mousey23 and welcome.  Well, I don't know how comforting it is but myself I would try to be grateful that they are going the extra mile and carrying out testing to "make assurance doubly sure" as the saying goes.    Try to look at it this way: if the tests come back negative you will have an even better assurance that you are okay and even if they do come back positive it is good to have it picked up as soon as possible then it can be dealt with quickly.  I am sorry that you are anxious but that is the same for everyone who is awaiting test results and I am sorry that I cannot offer any guarantees.  Best wishes.
