Mom died in May

Hello, thanks for having me.  My mom died in May this year after a 6 month battle with lung, liver, bone and brain cancer.  They think it started in her lung (she quit smoking 52 years before) and spread from there.  She died in hospice with my dad by her side.  They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in Aug 2017.

I am doing well, and one great thing that has resulted from it is my brother, whom my sister and I were estranged from for over 10 years, is back in our lives :)  My dad, though, has become a problem.  I will post more on that in another forum when I figure out which one our problems are best suited to.

I live in Canada so I hope it's OK that I am posting on what looks like a UK forum.

To everyone dealing with this horrible disease, whether as the one diagnosed or someone close to someone diagnosed, my heart goes out to you, your loved ones and the caregivers.  It's HARD, and people die, but the circle of life does go on.  Peace and love to you all.

  • Hi Sarah,

I saw no-one had replied to this post yet so I just wanted to stop by and welcome you to the forum and offer my condolences on the loss of your mum earlier this year.

It's lovely to see that something good has come from your mum's passing - I'm sure she would be so happy this has happened - although I'm sorry for the tricky situation you find yourself in with your dad at the moment. I hope our members replies on your other post about this has helped and you're able to find a solution that works for everyone at this difficult time.

    Kind regards,
