Waiting game Excision biopsy

Hi Everyone

New to this. I’m 28 years old and am in complete panic mode! I had surgery this morning to remove a mole under my left breast.

The surgeon stated that I’d receive my results in 3-4 weeks. That seems like an awfully Long time to wait....I have family history of melanoma so I’m slightly worried.

if it is found to be cancerous...would they contact me sooner?

  • I totally agree! If you need to cry...cry! Let it out! Im not really much of a crier myself if I’m honest! (I’m a hard nosed mare according to my partner lol) but there’s a niggling in the back of my mind and i can’t help but worry. Im a firm believer in that children deserve to know the truth....no matter how ugly that truth. It’s how it’s explained to them that ls important. Fingers crossed it doesn’t come to that but if in the event that it does....I’ll sit her down and explain to her in the best way for a three year old!

Children are more switched on than we give them credit for.

Thank you Jolamine! Over the last few days I had plenty of time to think and it is what it is. Obviously I’m hoping for good news but if it isn’t, I’m sure I can deal with it. I have a fierce, sassy three year old who I need to show the ropes to!

    HI Beth,

I hope that your pathology result is good and that you have no need to tell your daughter.

However, if the worst comes to the worst, she won't need chapter and verse, just a simple explanation, suitable for a three year old.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's good news.

Don't forget to let us know when you get the results.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you Jolamine!
