Hello Purplelotus and welcome to the forum.  Awful news about your dad.  Please do tell us a bit more about yourself and your situation.   How is your mum coping. And (pardon me for asking) how old is your dad and yourself - you don't have to tell us the exact age if you don't want to do so!    I totally understand that you are struggling; your parents are the one certainty that you have and although we know they are likely to die before we do it is frightening and horrible when we are faced wiith their mortality.  Pleae also let us know if your beloved dad is at home or in hospital.  Please believe I am not just being inquisitive for the sake oif it.  It just helps to have a bit of background information so we can try to help you through this.  Annie

I am an only child, married and have a young son. I am so surprised that my mum is coping so well. I wish I had her strength. My dad is 71 and has been told he has cancer in the oesophagus, liver, lymph nodes and adrenal glands. It’s been a bit of a shock as we only found out when he went into hospital because he couldn’t eat and wondered if it was anything to do with having a gastric band which he had fitted around 5 years ago. I lost my nan ( my dads mum) last December too.
