non Hodgkin lymphoma low grade

Hi. My partner has low grade NHLymphoma & is on watch/wait. He is 67 & it was picked up after excessive nose bleeds & double vision back in Jan this year. He is still working part time goes dancing twice a week. He carries on as normal but gets very tired & sleeps when sits down (about 4 - 5 times a day). Wondered if there is anyone out there who can share with me what to prepare for in the future. At the moment he is very withdrawn from me but fine with other friends & family.

  • Hi, I have NHL and it is a shock to the system for both of you. Mine was more advanced than your partner, I have stage 3 and getting chemo at the moment. I'm doing very well on the treatment but it must be a worry on watch and wait wondering when or if it will advance further. My first symtom was terrible fatique, I would also just sleep anywhere. I also had night sweats and lost a lot of weight. He will probably get checked very six months or so to check which stage it's at. It is slow growing and we just don't what's round the corner. I've been told it's not curable but treatable. I know the chemo is working but it could come back again. We have to just try and enjoy our life as much as possible and try to carry on, hard as it may be. It's the Multi Disciplinary team that decide when to start treatment, so we are in their hands.  Some people can be on watch and wait for many years with no change. I hope your partner given time accepts and shares with you how he is feeling, take care.
