How long ago is it since you had your mastectomy and what type of reconstruction did you have? It may be these factors that account for the hard time you are having at the moment. I have also had 2 bouts of cancer and know just how devastating that can be. I had a lumpectomy 8 years ago followed by a double mastectomy 7 years ago.

I didn't have any reconstruction due to several previous surgeries and recovered quite quickly. In fact, I coped better with my mastectomies than I did with my lumpectomy.

Hi! 

I had mastectomy and reconstruction in June and I’m still recovering. As they also removed lymph nodes in my armpit I continue to have numbness in my left arm, pain and restricted movement. I will now be referred for physio. What are you most struggling with? Remember it’s a big surgery and recovery time is long. I still find myself tired, but I have just completed radiotherapy as well so might be side effect of that. Look after yourself, rest and hope you will recover well. All the best x

Thanks for responding to my post.  I had my mastectomy and reconstruction about 5 weeks ago, I have had the TUG reconstruction, and whilst I know it’s very early days in my recovery and I’m pleased with how the first stage of the reconstruction has gone, I’m struggling with where my graft has been taken from.

I have seen a physiotherapist but she admitted that she hadn’t ever had a patient who had the surgery I’ve had and has referred me on to another physiotherapist and told me there maybe a further delay.
