New to this malarkey

Hi everyone

Sitting here not sure just what to say.  Was diagnosed with Grade 1 breast cancer in late August and chose to put off my lumpectomy until after my husband and I have celebrated our Ruby Wedding Anniversary.  My consultant felt the delay wouldn't be detrimental, but now I'm getting a little anxious about the flights and whether I'll enjoy it as getting very tired by early evening.  Do you think it's purely psychological?  Hopefully will have a bronzed boob for surgeon to work on

    Hi Jan,

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. How long you can safely delay your lumpectomy will be dependent not only on the grade of your cancer, but also the type of breast cancer you have. I doubt that your surgeon would have agreed to putting it off if he felt that it would be detremental for you.

I hope that you enjoy your wedding anniversary. Most of us get very tearful and emotional whilst waiting for surgery and treatment. Crying can act like a release valve, so let the tears flow. Try to put these emotional gremlins behind you and go away and enjoy your holiday.

Time enough to start worrying when you come back with that bronzed boob for the surgeon to work on.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi

Im sorry To hear that you have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. I don’t think that the breast surgeon would tell you it was ok to go away if they felt it was not advisable.

I know that having a cancer diagnosis is a lot to have to comprehend but if you can go and enjoy your Ruby Wedding Anniversary.
