Cervical Cancer

Hi All

I am looking for some advice. My wife has been for a smeer test this morning and her GP hasn't really explained things to her apart from she needs a referral to a hospital.

I have booked this today and it is 2 weeks time but have noticed his wording on the letter as 2WW suspected cervical cancer : cervical abnormalities. Having looked online at this things do not look good but I hate being a google doctor. My wife is 45 and her smeer test are all up to date and her last one was all clear.

Can anyone help?

    Hi Martin,

I'm sorry to hear this. Try to leave Dr Google behind you. He won't do you any favours.

It is not until certain tests have been carried out that you will discover whether or not you have cancer.

Waiting for your first appointment and for the results of tests is always a worrying time.

Can you accompany your wife to her appointments? This is always a good idea, as is drawing up a list of questions before you attend. These questions will change from one visit to the next.

Thinking of you both and praying for a good result.

Please let us know how she gets on. We are always here for you both.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine
