Help!

Hi, I don’t have any local support groups near me so don’t have anyone to discuss all this with .

I had a lumpectomy in July and a seroma drained a few weeks ago, my breast was SO tender. Now my nipple has become increasing sore...if I brush against anything it is excruciating..it is not an an infection. Do you think I have another seroma as I had instant relief last time...should I just leave it to be absorbed on its own?

  • Hi ... I had a masectomy last July and had to have the fluid drained on 3 occasions ... So I'd say always best to get it checked ... Maybe you need some anti biotics ... That's what they gave me . But I'm no Dr ... It's your health maybe a call to 111 as it's the weekend ... Hopefully they'll say how to go ... Good luck .. hope it's sorted soon ... Chrissie x

  • Hi..oh thanks for swift reply...I had it aspirated a few weeks back...it’s not bad enough to phone 111..I just wondered if there were others out there that had the same thing! Then I wondered if you keep having it done does it come back quicker... grhhhh . Elaine xx

    Hi Marina,

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer, with a lumpectomy the first time and a double mastectomy the second. Mine was drained a few times, but there was slightly less each time

I am glad to hear that your pain is not bad enough to phone 111. This is what your breast care nurse is there for. Why not phone her on Monday and ask for her advice? She will know whether or not you need to have it drained again or if this is something different.

I hope that she can offer you some advice and that it settles down soon.

Please let us know how you get on. We are alays here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thankyou Jolamin...what a lovely name!

I’m new to all of this ive been in denial until really recently so it’s great to have this support, be it from afar, to discuss things with.

    best regards
