Kidney cancer

Hi I don’t know where to start my mom had kidney cancer in 2011 was given the all clear after have half her kidney removed back in 2011 the beginning of this year she started to get pain in her collar bone she had a mri scan and it showed she had a leasion in the top of her right arm that’s cancer she has had a bone scan and luckily it hasn’t spread into any other bones but the consultant is saying it’s came from the kidney back when she had the cancer so does that mean it’s secondary and will she be able to be cured or not does anyone know I’m going out my head with worry and Now we have to wait to be referred to a different hospital for more tests before any treatment is planned and information would be greatly appreciated xx

  • Welcome to the forum Jlouise although I'm sorry to read that your mum's cancer has returned but this time in her collar bone.

It can be very tough waiting for tests, and ultimately answers, to the numerous amount of questions running through your head, but fingers crossed it won't take too long for your mum to be referred to a different hospital so that things can start to get underway.

We do have some general information about secondary bone cancer on our website which I hope will help to clarify a few things but you're more than welcome to give our cancer nurses a call if you'd like to chat to them about your mum's situation. Their number is 0808 800 4040 and lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Best wishes to you both at this time,
