Getting checked for possible breast cancer

Hi - on Friday morning washing my right breast didn't feel right & then looking at it didn't seem right so I saw my GP & he has referred me for testing under NHS 10 day rule where he is also concerned not right. No family history but I have a rare pregnancy related bone disease - pregnancy associated osteoporosis -  & concerns about the amount of x-rays & scans I've had & huge exposure to radiation. No other health issues & generally well & family a well - the osteoporosis is idiopathic / reason unknown. They did stop xraying & scanning  me for a time over radiation exposure concerns.  I have lost four inches in height & 24 known fractures - 14 in spine -  & a few years in wheelchair after hip fracture  but very well now walking & active on new bone meds. Having lived for 27 years with this disfiguring & painful & disabling disease I cannot believe testing for fractures might have caused cancer but apparently it could have... any knowledge welcomed, thank you for listening & any thoughts ....

  • Welcome to the forum KW1 although I'm very sorry to read about what you've been through and what is happening at the moment.

As our members are mainly here to support one another they won't really be able to offer any knowledge or insight in to this - although I'm sure some of them will pop by soon to offer their support and advice - but you're more than welcome to give our cancer nurses a call to have a chat about this. Their lines are open between 9a.m - 5p.m, Monday - Friday on 0808 800 4040.

I'll have my fingers crossed that the results show it isn't cancer related when they come through.

    Kind regards,
